Memorial Day Weekend in the Hamptons: Activities & Safety
Memorial Day weekend is almost here – that means that summer is just around the corner. Daydreaming of the Hamptons’ sun, sand, beach, and waves can do a wonder to pass the time during a long day at the office. But why daydream? Go ahead and plan ahead – the Hamptons are a fun and easy destination to get to, and there’s so much to do for Memorial Day weekend, the next few weeks will fly by until you’re there.
If you’re a foodie, check out this blog from Edible Long Island, describing a perfect three day Memorial Day weekend visit to the Hamptons. You’ll leave stuffed and happy that you chose this way to kick off your summer. $1 oysters, anyone?
Sponsored by the Montauk Artists’ Association, Memorial Day Weekend is the 11th Annual Memorial Day Weekend Show, featuring handmade art by local artists. There’s nothing quite like an expert to capture the beauty of an area.
Memorial Day is a national holiday meant to reflect on those who gave their lives for our freedoms in the U.S. As such, many communities sponsor parades to honor and remember the meaning of the day. Sag Harbor holds an annual Memorial Day parade over the long weekend. If you’re still in the Hamptons or on your way out of town, why not check it out? Be sure to wear your red, white and blue!
The first ever (official) glamping in the Hamptons is happening Memorial Day Weekend 2019. Terra Glamping is opening a large site in Cedar Point County Park just in time for the start of the summer. The new location is nothing short of luxurious, describing that it will have “30 fully furnished beautifully designed sleeping tents with one-two queen-sized beds and 6-foot decks with seating and views of the water; two lounge tents with couches, books and board games; a dining tent; bathroom and shower facilities; a fully stocked grilling area; a fire pit; and additional outdoor furnishings including hammocks.” That’s a hard invitation to pass up!
You can’t plan a Memorial Day Weekend in the Hamptons without some partying. Plan to keep this in your back pocket as you head out for the weekend of fun and sun to make sure you are up to date with all the parties and happenings.
No matter what fun you’re into, from art to music to drinks to glamping, it’s important to remember that your personal safety is first. Always swim in areas where a lifeguard is present, stay hydrated throughout the day so the sun doesn’t take too much out of you, and in the evening, have fun at the clubs and bars in a group of trusted friends. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend in the Hamptons knowing that fun and safety go hand in hand.
